Introducing Our Blog

Published on July 21, 2020 By Lina Rodriguez in Category News

For our first article, we are focusing on how we transformed a conventional basement into a unique social space, with a bar area, architectural paneled walls, coffered ceiling, and hand carved wooden details throughout.

Below are some of the key necessities our client brought to our attention to help envision our work together:

Our client spoke of wanting a gathering space where he could hold receptions as well as everyday informal social gatherings. He also asked if our design could highlight and display a collection of paintings, as well as to provide enough storage space for a liquor reserve. He wanted the entire room in wood and to incorporate carved elements into the design to give the space a distinctive personality and serve as the focal point of their entertainment area.

The property’s original structure provided favorable conditions for our designs to be realized without major construction-related concerns. However, there was a site alteration that was needed to make sure our client’s expectations were not only met, but surpassed. This alteration was to raise an area of a low hanging ceiling. This decision was made to open up the space, give more height to the room and allow one section of the ceiling to include carved brackets, a chandelier, and air ducts.

From the beginning, our client had a clear vision of the style of their project. Prior to our meeting, it was only a vision, an image in their mind. After understanding the preliminary concepts of the project, we followed up by presenting possible designs, colors, and materials. These initial designs were based on the initial descriptions and concepts given by the client. We used our past experiences and skills as designers and craftsmen to begin materializing their ideas.

Aquilino 6 The following pictures and videos chronicle the development of the project, from the initial space to the final result. Our primary focus is to always listen to our clients, to learn and understand their needs and desires. This careful listening helps us to better collaborate on the design process in order to achieve the desired results. With the skills and talents of our wood carving artisans, we are able to create a new space, adding layers of depth and detail that our clients had not even imagined at the start.

We hope you enjoy and are inspired by this story. We will continue sharing more stories and ideas of the custom wood interiors we are creating for our clients. If you have questions regarding this or other projects, please send us an email or give us a call. We are here to help your dreams become reality.
